 Mikao Usui

He taught the theoretical knowledge of the art of enlightenment and healing throughout Japan. He visited Eastern countries and used the sutras and Vedas as a foundation, which were truly the key to all enlightenment and healing of the Buddhas.
At a healing conference, Usui is asked if he could demonstrate the technique live on a sick person, this makes him enter a crisis of transformation, looking for his opportunity to live what he was talking about, this is why he searches in temples for the hidden truth of the Buddhas, until he arrives at the temple of Mount Karuma or Kurhiama.
Mikao ascends the mountain and stops at the top (archetype of elevation of consciousness) and after 21 days, he sees mats of fire coming from the sky and beginning to engulf him. At this event, he becomes frightened and hears a voice telling him not to be afraid.
In this act, Usui receives the symbols of healing and enlightenment from the fire. This sacred fire is called Usui Reiki Universal Vital Energy.
For some historians, not only does Reiki mean this, but this is why some words that represent it are transcribed.
REI- consists of 3 parts, the top one is rain, the middle one is things and the bottom one is Saman, rei means "Spirit or Spiritual".

The Japanese Dictionary defines Reiki as:

1-. Spirit: the spiritual aspect of the human being in constant with the physical.
2- Divine, cuddly, charismatic.
3- The luminosity of God.
4- Inconceivable spiritual ability.
5- Rainmaker, a diviner, a person or being with spiritual powers.
6 - A Shaman.
7- Bomdad.
8- Intelligent sharp.
9- Life.
10- A Living Being.
11- A Mythical Being (fairy, elf)
12- Bright clear

When Usui comes down the mountain he performs his first 4 miracles.
The first one hurts his leg while going down, he touches it with his hand and it heals.

The Second, when he returned to the village after fasting for 21 days, ate too much and because he didn't drink water, his digestive system resisted, he touched himself and was healed.

The third miracle was to cure the innkeeper of her toothache, just by laying on of hands.

The fourth monk in the monastery had rheumatic pains that he healed instantly.

Usui, amazed by this power, wanted to pass it on to everyone. That's why he would stand on a street corner in his hometown of Kyoto, holding a torch, telling people he could help them heal. He became very well-known, and some say he gave Reiki mastery to as many as 12 or 16 masters.

Some historians say that Usui has had an endless number of successors so that Reiki could spread further and further.

History of Reiki

This text tells the story of the healing technique known as Reiki, attributing its origin to Prince Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha or Buddha of Healing. Gautama, observing the hypocrisy of his kingdom and the lack of attention to the poor and sick, abandoned his life of luxury in search of enlightenment and emotional healing. In his enlightenment, Buddha understood that human suffering stems from attachments and fleeting illusions.

Bodhisattvas, such as Kwan Yin (or Kannon), who embody compassion, are also mentioned. An analogy is made with Christian figures such as Jesus and Mary, who, according to the text, are also seen as Buddhas in their respective religions. The healing technique known today as Reiki originated in Tibet and India and is based on ancient sacred texts such as the Sutras and Vedas.

The text also draws a parallel between Jesus' teachings and Buddhist tradition, stating that Jesus knew and practiced healing techniques based on universal spiritual knowledge. Jesus, whose real name was Joshua, according to the Aramaic interpretation, taught his disciples to heal in his name.

Finally, it is explained that after Jesus, the enlightenment technique was persecuted and lost popularity in the West. However, it was preserved in Buddhist temples until, in the 20th century, a Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui rediscovered and popularized Reiki, understood as a universal life force.
